Wehramcht Funkstelle
Nazi radio truck
This is an absolutely genuine Third Reich Ehrenpreis or honor award that was given to a Funker or Funk team in recognition of some special ability or some special action. The big 138 mm (5-7/16 inch) diameter, heavy 0.4 kg (14-½ ounce) cast metal plaque has an artistic silver finish and a collapsible leg on the back so that it can be displayed on a shelf.

The high relief image shows a Wehrmacht Funker or radio team operation somewhere in the field. There are trees, grass, a road, a Funk or radio truck and three men operating radio equipment. Each man is dressed in a Nazi uniform, one with a visor cap, one with a steel helmet and one bareheaded. The detail on the uniforms even includes the Wehrmacht breast eagle insignia above the right uniform pockets. A sign on one of the trees has the letter F for Funkstelle or radio position.

There is no award information or maker mark on the plaque, but we know for sure it was manufactured by the firm A. Pinnecke of Dresden, as it appears in their 1940 catalog.
