This is a fine example of the 6 x 8-1/4 inch 80 page, well-illustrated linen hard cover book KLEINE RUNENKUNDE (Basic Science of Runes) by Heiner Schilling as published by the SS Publishing House, Nordland Verlag in Magdeburg in 1937.
Schilling was well-known and highly regarded for his series of guidebooks on rather complicated or obscure, but very German subjects, and this one on runes is among this best.
It does a great job of explaining the background and basic form of runes, covers runic poems and even runic memorial stones.
The chart of runic letters in the back is excellent. Excellent, near-new condition.

This is a fine example of the 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch 120 page, heavily illustrated hard cover first edition book KLEINE RUNENKUNDE (Basic Science of Runes) by Edmund Weber as published by the SS Publishing House, Nordland Verlag in 1941.
This is NOT the same book as listed above, but an entirely different work using a different approach. Whereas the Schilling book is quite general in nature, this book focusses on the fact that the Hitler Youth and SS brought new recognition to Nordic runes and symbols and that an expanded history was needed.
This book provides the official updated SS version of the subject of runes during the Third Reich. Many unique illustrations of runes on clasps, stones, swords, knives, axes, speer points, memorial plates, statues, etc.
Not all his books were considered important enough to be published by the SS Publishing House, Nordland Verlag, but this one was.
This book is in very good, near-new condition except for two crossed out dedications/names - one on the inside of the front cover and one on the title page.
