LAKE CONSTANCE

Lake Constance (Bodensee in German) is a large lake in Southern Germany which also borders Switzerland and Austria. The city of Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance was the home of the Zeppelin Works and many other German aviation companies such as Maybach and Dornier. The industries were the target of heavy Allied bombing between June 1943 and February 1945.
Offered here is a Third Reich souvenir photo set of the Bodensee containing 12 deckle edge photographs. Note the Nazi eagle and swastika on the logo on the cover (close-up shown right). The set was produced by Verlag Karl Kaspar of Lindau and has pictures of Konstanz, Bregenz, Wasserburg, the Zeppelinwerft in Friedrichshafen, Castle Meersburg, etc. Each photo has a caption on the back.

This lot consists of a Nazi era set of 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch deckle edge souvenir photos of the beautiful city of Lindau on the eastern side of Lake Constance, complete with its original Third Reich folder. Each of the 12 separate photos has an accurate description of the pictured scene on the back. On the back of several of the pictures it is also mentioned that the photos were released by the RLM (Reichsluftfahrtministerium or the Nazi Air Ministry).
The set was produced by Frankische Verlagshandlung of Stutgart and the photo subjects are printed in the flap of the folder: City Hall, aerial pictures of Lindau and its Harbor, Lindau and the Alps, etc.The photographs are in very good condition, the original paper folder shows wear.
