On this USMBOOKS web page we offer three original pre-war souvenir photos sets produced for visitors to the historic Hansestadt Hamburg in the northern part of Nazi Germany. All three sets are complete and come with the protective folder they were sold in during the Third Reich. Priced individually.

This 3-1/4 x 4-7/8 inch tan undated cardstock folder contains 10 original black & white photos taken in the Hanseatic northern German city of Hamburg, produced by Verlag Hans Andres in Hamburg before World War II began. It is Nr. 1 in their series.

Each photo was made from a negative and shown are the huge Bismarck Monument, the main railway station, the urban promenade the Jungfernstieg, the inner Alster harbor from the air, the St. Pauli piers, the St. Michael and St. Nicholas Church, the two famous brick architectural treasures the Chilehaus and Sprinkenhof, and City Hall and the market square in front of it.

Years of RAF bombing raid on Hamburg (and especially Operation Gomorrah in July 1943) destroyed large parts of the city and industrial center, the shipyards, oil refineries and U-Boot pens. Many of the buildings shown in these photos did not survive the war.

The light brown folder could be used as an envelope to send these souvenir ship photos by mail. Complete with all ten 2 x 2-¾ inch photos and in excellent condition. No writing, no odor.

Each photo was made from a negative and the ships shown are the Norddeutsche Lloyd ocean liner Europa, oceanliner Schnelldampfer Cap Arcona, the NDL ocean liner Schnelldampfer Bremen, Schnelldampfer Cap Polonio, the Hapag steamship Reliance, the steamship Hapagdampfer Albert Ballin, ocean liner Afrikadampfer Adolf Woermann, Afrikadampfer Watussi, Motorschiff Monte Olivia and windjammer Viermastbark Passat.
