VOM HAKENKREUZ -
DIE GESCHICHTE
EINES SYMBOLS

(THE SWASTIKA -
THE HISTORY OF A SYMBOL)
Vom Hakenkreuz - die Geschichte eines Symbols (the Swastika - the History of a Symbol)
This is an excellent example of the very rare 7-5/8 x 10-3/8 inch, 92 page very, very heavily illustrated hard cover book Vom Hakenkreuz - die Geschichte eines Symbols (the Swastika - the History of a Symbol) by Dr. Jörg Lechler as published by Curt Kabitzsch Verlag in Leipzig in 1934. This is the second enlarged and expanded edition with over 600 illustrations and one color plate.
A great deal has been written about the swastika since 1945 by people without the foggiest concept of how the symbol was used in antiquity. This fascinating book traces the use of the Hakenkreuz symbol around the world, back to the dawn of time.

Of greater interest to those who study the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler are examples of its more recent uses in the Wappen or shields from the Middle Ages onward and the adoption of the symbol by Hitler for his Third Reich.
Nazi formations
swastika tombstone
There are examples from the tombstones of SA and SS men to easter eggs decorated with the swastika symbol.
Nazi swastika standard
There are swastikas on the door and an eagle and swastika along the door along the Nazi Braunes Haus in München (Munich), triangular swastika banners decorating a street, people marching in the form of a swastika and banks of swastika banners.
Nazi swastika map
There are maps and charts in the book that trace the use of the Hakenkreuz on all continents with the exception of Australia. The swastika was a popular indian symbol in the Americas, a religious symbol in Japan and other places in Asia, in common use from Indonesia across the Indian subcontinent and along the Mediterranean and throughout much of Africa. In Europe it was in use from Ireland to the Arctic Circle to the Black Sea.
The only properly researched book on the subject, this example is in used condition. Part of the lower half of the pages was once wet but is now nice and dry and has no foul odor. Name of a Pastor stamped on the title page.
