This is an excellent example of a class of Third Reich books intended to reduce the impact of "fashionable goods" on consumers and to educate them about what to look for in product categories where good design was considered "eternal."
The Nazis limited the production of some goods to basic standardized designs, and in those cases that was all that was available for sale to consumers in Nazi Germany. In other categories such as tableware (china, glass, silverware) there was more latitude given to producers, but even the finest, upscale companies like Rosenthal, Berndorf and WMF produced full lines of the basic items from "Deutscher Form", designs approved by Schönheit der Arbeit (The Beauty of Labor) of the Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF or German Labor Front).
This rare 9 x 11-3/4 inch, 64 page very heavily illustrated Third Reich book Hausgeraet das nicht veraltet (Table Service that does not age) explains the history of German tableware and why the modern German form is not only the best, but also the most timeless of all tableware designs.
This is a 3rd edition of Hausgeraet das nicht veraltet by Walter Dexel as published by Otto Maier Verlag in Ravensburg in 1938. A rare book complete with its original dust jacket. Perfect for a museum or a movie attempting to set a proper Third Reich table.
