As Third Reich memorabilia goes, these original molds are in a class all by themselves. These extremely detailed aluminum molds with 2-1/2 inch ferruled wooden handles were made in Germany during the Nazi era and sold to parents who bought them for their children. Hitler Youth publications carried advertising for the molds and they were also sold in toy shops through the Reich.
Each 1 x 4 x 4 inch aluminum mold is made up from two halves, each of which has a mirror image of the deep relief sculpture on the other. The two pieces are aligned with integral steel pins, and once mated up they are held together with large steel spring clips. Molten metal (commonly a lead/tin alloy) is then poured through the holes in the top of the molds to fill the internal cavities.
After cooling for a few minutes, the spring clips are removed and the halves of the mold are separated, and shiny toy SS and SA men with flags and standards drop out. The figures can be played with as they are or painted in realistic colors with ordinary models paints.

Four of the six castings are complete as they are removed from the molds. The man in the center of the L-shaped mold is made to hold the DEUTSCHLAND ERWACHE standard on the right third of the same mold. Properly done, a 3-1/2 inch brass wire is placed in the mold for the standard and that item is cast first. When removed from the mold, the wire (or standard pole) is place in the hands of the man in the center of the mold, the mold is clamped shut and the center man is cast holding the standard pole.

We had a schoolboy cast the figures shown here and paint them. As you can see he did a nice job, but then these are beautifully made antique molds to work with.
The molds are used of course, but are in perfect working condition with no damage of any kind. As they are the molds are a unique treasure from a time and place relegated to history. In use in the right hands, they have the potential to recover their cost over and over by the manufacture and sale of figures taken from them. The painted figures shown are not included in the sale of the molds. Very good condition.
