Die Bayerische Ostmark ruft which translates as "The Bavarian Ostmark Calls You" is a Third Reich tourist publication printed to entice German citizens to visit the "beautiful travel land on the eastern border of Bavaria". Gau Bayerische Ostmark was the rural, rolling and heavily forested Bavarian border region of Germany with Czechoslovakia, and Fritz Wächtler was the Nazi Gauleiter.

This original 7-7/8 x 8-1/4 inch, 36-page tourist publication has information about the beauty and nature of the region, the Danube river, the historic cities of Regensburg, Passau, Bamberg, Coburg, the porcelain city of Weiden, the Wagnerian city of Bayreuth, mountains and forests.

Photos show the Walhhalla monument outside Regensburg, the Dietrich-Eckart monument, castle ruins, Kulmbach and its Plassenburg (home of the Reichsautobahn museum), the Bamberger Reiter (above) half-timbered houses, beautiful churches, lakes, the inside of a porcelain manufacturer in Selb, scenery, the town square of Wunsiedl (hometown of Rudolf Hess), Haus Wahnfried and interior photos of the opera house in Bayreuth, etc., etc.
There are suggestions for day trips, and the center of the publication has detailed highway and railroad map of the Gau Bayerische Ostmark. Inside the back cover is Deutsche Reichsbahn information about train routes and stations in the region as well as prices.

Unlike many other Nazi era travel literature, this brochure was not published by the Reichsbahnzentrale deutsches Reiseverkehr (DRV - the German Railways Tourist Traffic Organization). The Nazi Party Gauverlag Bayerische Ostmark in Bayreuth printed 100,000 examples of this Nazi travel publication for the 1936 Olympic tourist season. This rare 88 year old German language example is complete and in very good, little used condition.  No odor.
