This is a nice 2nd style Nazi military Wehrpass (Service Record) dated 15 December 1941 for 40 year old Medical Doctor Walter Zdrahal from Vienna. Dr. Walter Zdrahal had attended Gymnasium and the University of course, and spoke both Czech and Russian in addition to German.
There is no record in his Wehrpass that he was involved in military actions of any kind but the Wehrpass contains two Durchlasssheine or Transit Passes which allowed Dr. Zdrahal unrestricted travel in the Protectorate of Böhmen und Mähren (Bohemia and Moravia in Czechoslovakia) and the Generalgouvernement (Poland). It is clear from information on the Durchlassscheine that the only purpose for this Wehrpass was as a picture ID for travel. There is no Kennkarte or Arbeitsbuch number or Erkennungsmarke number in the Wehrpass. We don't have the foggiest notion what Dr. Walter Zdrahal did in what is now Czechoslovakia and Poland, but the lack of data suggests to us that it had something to do with matters not intended for open discussion, such as concentration camps.
