This is quite a nice example of the rare 7 x 9 inch, 96 page, very heavily illustrated hardcover book ,,Nordisches Blutserbe im Suddeutschen Bauerntum 2. Band - die Ostmark’’ (The Inheritance of Nordic Blood among Southern German Farm People Volume 2- Eastern Region) as published by Verlag F. Buckmann in München (Munich), Germany in 1939.

Following an introduction by Reichsbauernführer (and SS-General) R. Walther Darré, this book is composed of portraits (32 in color, 16 in black & white) of the finest “racially pure” farm people of the eastern region of southern Grossdeutschland as painted and drawn by Oskar Just and Wolfgang Willrich.

According to Darré’s introduction it was the precious blood of these people that Adolf Hitler sought to protect as a part of the national treasure with the passage of the Reicherbhofgesetz (Law of Hereditary Farm Land) and the specific reason that Jews could not own farm land in Germany.

The pictures are stunning examples of Third Reich art of the sort that pleased the Nazis most: strong, fair skinned, mostly blond and blue eyed people with bold features. Artists Just and Willrich found ample subjects in the ,,Ostmark’’, none of whom is shown smiling.

There is no better Nazi era book on this subject and other than the stains on the cover, this one is in very good condition.
