This is a great Nazi grouping of three original pieces, each in the maiden name of Auguste Jahn (married signature on page 9 is Auguste Kutschera geb. Jahn), a Schneiderin or tailor of Wien (Vienna), born on 1 August 1918 in Wien. According to information in this bright red 48-page, 4 x 5-1/4 inch, 1939 edition Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei Mitgliedsbuch or Membership Book number 605a653, she joined the NSDAP on 1 May 1938, just a few weeks after the Anschluß. She received this Nazi Party membership book from her local Ortsgruppe ‘Tivoli’ on 22 March 1941. The original photo in this NSDAP Mitgliedsbuch shows pretty 23 year old ‘Gusti’ Jahn with a black hat.
The booklet contains NSDAP dues stamps for 1940 through 1944. A particularly interesting, unusual and historical aspect of this Nazi Party membership book is that Auguste Jahn took her Nazi Party oath on Adolf Hitler’s birthday, 20 April 1939 in Wien, and it was administered by Parteigenosse (Pg. or Party member) Rudolf Hess! This fact is noted on page 11 of this Nazi Party membership book, and the entry is shown in our photo right.
This Third Reich document grouping also contains two NS-Frauenschaft membership documents:
1) Auguste Jahn’s pink provisional membership card issued on 28 January 1939. This two-sided card stock Vorläufige Mitgliedskarte measures 3-3/8 x 4-3/4 inches and has 20 dues stamps on the back.
2) The permanent orange NS-Frauenschaft Mitgliedskarte or Membership Card has the number 2674333 and was issued to Gusti Jahn on 15 July 1941. It contains 23 dues stamps from the years 1941 and 1942. Both NS-Frauenschaft membership IDs have the facsimile signature of Reichsfrauenführerin Gertrud Scholtz-Klink.

One sees at least 50 to a 100 Nazi Party membership books for men for every one issued to a woman. We have never seen a book issued to a woman as young as Gusti Jahn. She must have been an extremely committed National Socialist. Very good condition.
