This is a marvelous and important reference book for anyone with an interest in the Nationalsozialistische Kraftfahr Korps (NSKK or National Socialist Motor Corps), the Reichsautobahn, military vehicles, race cars, or any other aspect of motor vehicles or motorization in Germany during the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler.

The 6 x 8-1/2 inch, 152 page, very, very heavily illustrated hardcover book ,,Wörterbuch der Kraftfahrt'' was published in 1938 by Quelle & Meyer in Leipzig, Germany under the direction of Oberleutnant H. Morgenroth of the Panzertruppenschule at Wünedorf. In the style of any good dictionary, this book lists and explains in detail approximately 1500 automotive items from the Reichsautobahn to NSKK insignia of rank.

Hundreds of the topics are explained with meticulous line-drawings and sharp, clear photographs. There are photographs of all styles of vehicles, from the very first Mercedes-Benz automobile to military halftracks and tanks, to streamlined passenger cars and the latest Auto-Union racer.

Various insignia and flags of the NSKK and rank insignia of Panzer troops are illustrated, as are the innermost workings of steering gears, shock absorbers, the clutch, motors, torsion bars, wheels, radiators, and even things like the pressed steel frames of Zündapp motorcycles. In fact, there is an inordinate amount of information on chain and shaft drive motorcycles, motorcycle troops, motorcycle motors, forks, etc.

There is complete information on the prefixes of German license plates used during the Hitler-era, a complete index of Wehrmacht traffic hand signals and German traffic control signs.

In the back of the book are a few pages of automotive related advertising. The aviation version of this book, Wörternbuch des Flugwesens, is also advertised.

Very, very comprehensive information in an attractive format. Other than a list of entries written lightly in pencil on the front flyleaf, this book is in nice used condition.
