This Third Reich art folio contains most prints of TWO sets of war art, RECHTS UND LINKS DER ROLLBAHN 24 Aquarelle vom Vormarsch des XXXXVII Panzerkorps im Osten (Right and Left of the Route of Attack - 24 Watercolors from the Advance in the East) and SOLDATEN IN EIS UND SCHNEE - 24 Aquarelle vom Winterkampf des XXXXVII.Panzerkorps im Osten (Soldiers in Ice and Snow - 24 Watercolors from the Winter Battle of the 47th Tank Corps in the East).
The full-color art work is by Fritz Brauner, an Obergefreiter of Wehrmacht Flakregiment 101. These sets were published in 1941 "for fellow Wehrmacht members as a lasting memory of the Victorious Thrust in the Heart of the Soviet Paradise."
The artwork can only be described as spectacular featuring everything from Nazi artillery and tanks to Russian 52-ton tanks, bombing Stukas, Russians having a look at their first airplane (a Fieseler Storch), Flak troops, German graves, winter quarters, machine gun positions, mortar crews in action, knocked out Russian tanks, etc., etc.
The colors are bright and vivid and the condition of the prints is very good. The folio has a few stains on the covers.
The Third Reich folio we offer on this USMBOOKS web page contains both sets of original Third Reich prints.
The set of 'Summer' prints of the Russian Campaign is missing only one of the 24, number 12 - Russische Bauernstube (Russian Farmhouse Room) and the set of 'Winter' prints is missing prints number 4, 6, 9, 10, 11 and 12. Therefore, what we are offering is 41 of the original 48 prints in the two sets with the folio, the title page, the dedication page and two Indexes.
