| This example of ,,Der Panzerknacker was published on 13 May 1944 by the Oberkommando des Heeres (OKH) and explains in words and pictures how over 10,000 German soldiers were already wearing the Individual Close Combat Tank Destruction Arm Badge. The destruction of tanks on the Eastern Front was equivalent to 200 Russian Tank Brigades, or roughly one Russian tank every 150 meters for 1500 kilometers from Odessa to Leningrad!
The Panzerknacker booklet explains how to approach an enemy tank, the tanks most vulnerable points, how to identify enemy tanks (T34, Sherman, Churchill, etc.), types of weapons to use against tanks (Panzerfaust, Panzerschreck, mines, explosives, gas bottles, etc.), and how to avoid being killed by a tank. The manual ends with the words STÄHLERNE HERZEN GEGEN STÄHLERNE MASSEN! (Hearts of Steel Offset Masses of Steel!).
