| During the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler, a fine, large hotel stood on the Obersalzberg mountainside only a couple of hundred yards from Hitler’s home - the Berghof. Countless famous people stayed at or visited the Platterhof Hotel and its splendid grounds over the years.
After World War II the United States government restored the damaged hotel to its former glory and renamed it the General Walker Hotel in honor of the famous American soldier. The lobby was tastefully furnished with the furniture of Hitler and Eva Braun, and other notable Nazis. Just prior to returning the hotel to the Germans in the late 1990s, the US government refurbished the entire facility. |

| In a world-class act of vandalism and ingratitude, and with a total disregard for history the Germans promptly tore down the beautifully refurbished grand old hotel and replaced it with a parking lot for their new anti-Nazi historical interpretive center in the remains of Hitler’s guesthouse nearby! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This 6 pound (2.75 kg), 1-1/4 x 10 x 25 inch piece of beautifully formed hand-wrought iron is one of the huge brackets that supported the rain gutter at the front edge of the roof of the historic Hotel Platterhof on the Obersalzberg above Berchtesgaden, Germany. We removed it from the debris when the hotel was being destroyed by the Germans in 2000. Beautiful condition, complete with a notarized Certificate of Authenticity. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
