NAZI RAILWAY
BOOK
-
Kriegsmerkbuch
für die Abfertigung
von Transporten der
Wehrmacht und
der Waffen-SS
Most collectors of Third Reich books and memorabilia have no idea that this extremely important book ever existed. It is the ,,Kriegsmerkbuch für die Abfertigung von Transporten der Wehrmacht und der Waffen-SS'' (War Reference Book on Armed Forces and Waffen-SS Transportation Documentation), Handbook 637 of the German Railway Traffic Network dated 1943. It provides absolutely specific rules and regulations regarding the classes of travel for the Armed Forces, their baggage, their freight and the various types of tickets required to obtain passage on Third Reich trains and busses operated by the railway.
The owner of this manual (Herr Komarck)
worked for the railway in Gau Nieder-
donau and glued in each and every change
and update he received (covering things
like Hilfszugs Bayern, Hitler Youth,
Prisoners-of-War, etc.) and struck out
sections of the book which no longer
applied, apparently right to the end of the
war.

The book provides minutia on every aspect of rail and bus transportation in and outside of Hitler’s Großdeutschland.

There are special sections that deal with traffic from Occupied Russia, Norway, Finland and Denmark, etc., etc. There is even a list of charges that the Deutsche Reichsbahn assessed if their equipment was delayed.
There are pages of information which are absolutely specific to the Waffen-SS (for example, paragraph 3a of section XII says that SS Leaders with the rank of General will be transported in First Class, non-Generals in Second Class and Unterführer and men in Third Class). The section goes on to tell exactly how the tickets and leave passes of the SS differ from those of the Wehrmacht.
There are printed examples of the Kleiner (1 person) and Großer (groups of people) Armed Forces railway tickets and leave passes so that personnel of the Reichsbahn would recognize them on sight. There is even a printed example of the special individual railway tickets for personnel of the SA-Standarte Feldherrnhalle! Most advanced collectors are unaware that these special tickets ever existed.

The softbound book measures 8-1/4 x 11-1/2 inches, contains 112 pages (plus many inserts and updates) and is in very good used condition.

This is extremely rare Deutsche Reichsbahn material concerning the transportation documents of members of the Waffen-SS and the Armed Forces.
