A SPLENDID VARIETY OF NAZI ERA GERMAN POSTCARDS (ANSICHTSKARTEN OR AK) FEATURING THE REICHSAUTOBAHN

The card lots that follow are all related to the Reichsautobahn - the super highways of the Führer and the world’s first practical freeway system. All are very difficult to find, some are unique. All are absolutely original to the Third Reich period - NONE ARE REPRODUCTIONS. Always check in advance of making payment for availability by lot number, as most items are one-of-a-kind and they do sell quickly.

Lot #RA86 - (left) a very nice 105 x 148 mm full-color printed Postkarte showing the Wilhelm Abel painting of the construction of the freeway exit near Mannheim. This card is from the series Die Straßen Adolf Hitlers and was printed by the company Dr.C. Wolf & Sohn in Munich.

This Nazi era Reichsautobahn was mailed on 18 September 1937 to a family in Augsburg. Cancelation of the 6 Pfennig Hindenburg stamp is from Kempten (Allgau). It is in very good used condition.

Lot #RA25 - (left) a rare unused 105 x 148 mm full-color printed postcard showing the large public dining room at the Autobahn rest stop on the Chiemsee between München and Salzburg.

This Reichsautobahn Ansichtskarte was produced by Fotoverlag Keetman & Stampfl, located in the small town of Prien on Chiem Lake. It was never mailed and has a blank back.

In like-new condition, 100% original to the Third Reich period. $44.00 delivered worldwide.

Lot #RA89 - (above) a very nice unused 103 x 147 mm full-color printed postcard showing a disappearing Reichsautobahn behind a large black car. This card is from the series Die Straßen des Führers (The Roads of the Führer). In very nice condition. $44.00 delivered worldwide.

Lot #RA93 - (above) an excellent 90 x 140 mm photographic postcard of a very early section of Hitler's Autobahn between Darmstadt and Frankfurt am Main. One of the most interesting aspects of this card is that the only car on the Autobahn when the picture was taken is the one parked slightly off the roadway in the center foreground. All the other cars were superimposed on a photograph of the Reichsautobahn and then that photograph was re-photographed to create the negative that was used to print this card.
In very good condition, unused. **SOLD**.
