PHARUS REICHSBAHN MAP OF BERLIN
A PHARUS MAP OF
THE BEAUTIFUL
SURROUNDINGS OF
BERLIN DURING
THE NAZI ERA
| This is a rare 23 x 25 inch, highly detailed, undated, multi-color map of the area surrounding Berlin, the capital of Nazi Germany. |
From Oranienburg (and Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp) on the north to Teupitz on the south, this map shows all the towns, nature areas, parks and recreational land surrounding Berlin, and the train routes used to reach them.
There is no detail in the center of this map, only the train stations in the city of Berlin travelers might use as departure points. This is the sort of map any Berliner needed to go hiking on weekends in the many forested, wild areas surrounding the Reichshauptstadt. |
The map was published by Pharus (one of the biggest printers of maps and travel guides in Third Reich Germany) in cooperation with the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft, Reichsbahndirektion Berlin, probably at the time of the 1936 Summer Olympics. Pharus is still in business today.
There are a few short tears at the corners of folds, otherwise very good condition. |
