This 4-1/8 x 5-3/4 inch, two-sided Third Reich Ausweis or identity document has a printing date of July 1940 and was issued to 33 year old student Rudolf Richter in January 1942 by the Abendfachschulen der Reichshauptstadt Berlin (Professional Evening School of the Capital of the Reich - Berlin, Germany) where he studied engineering. The seal of the school bearing a Nazi eagle and swastika is stamped across Richter’s picture.
The backside of the unusual Ausweis enumerates the six rules and benefits of the possession of the ID. We suspect that the Ausweis was not renewed for the second half of 1942, probably because Richter was drafted into the Wehrmacht.
