Naturally, the magazines in this book contain a great deal of information about the three year old war in Europe with Nazi Germany and the Japanese War of Aggression aimed at domination of the South Pacific Islands and Pacific Rim Countries, but there is also every kind of news of a domestic and foreign sort, just as in current issues of TIME.

There is splendid full-color and black & white advertising for every imaginable consumer product from cars to hotels to aircraft and whiskey to tobacco to power boats and movies (Allis-Chalmers, Philip Morris, Florsheim shoes, Cadillac tanks, GE, RCA records, Cessna, Braniff, Bacardi, Shell, United Airlines, French Line, Campbell’s soup, Camel, Boeing, Studebaker, Rand McNally, Schlitz beer, Bendix, Parker pens, DeSoto, Coca Cola, Lucky Strike, Magnavox, Bell Telephone, Good Year, Martin Aircraft, Revere, Douglas warplanes, Indian Motorcycles, Van Heusen, Bond Street pipe tobacco, Firestone, Band-Aid by Johnson & Johnson, Dixie Cups, Lockheed, Pan American Clippers, Morton’s Salt, Listerine, Dodge, Pennzoil, Smith Corona, Zenith Radio, etc.) Many of them have a World War II theme and feature military vehicles, of course.

Some of the cover “personalities” in these issues of TIME include George Patton, Pope Pius XII, controversial actress Ingrid Bergman, General Eisenhower and entertainer Bob Hope. There is a great deal of war information and photos: battle news from Russia, the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Pacific, photos after bombing raids over Germany (Düsseldorf, Cologne), American army and navy news (promotions, medical advances, war bonds, etc.), the Cost of War (91,645 casualties by July 1943), Montgomery, Luftwaffe Field Marshall Kesselring, Mussolini and his successor Pietro Badoglio, the battle in Sicily, liberated Rome, rumors about well-known Nazis (Hitler, Göring, Himmler, Goebbels, Kesselring, etc.) “now that psychological defeat is imminent”, Ploesti, etc.
