The magazineDie Wehrmacht (The Armed Forces) is without question the most reliable authority on matters related to the Armed Forces of the Third Reich Germany of Adolf Hitler. After the Nazis demanded and won the allegiance of the Junkers and the military, the conversion of the Armed Forces by the NSDAP began in earnest.

New helmets, uniforms, weapons and heavy equipment began to flow to the armed services in a never-ending stream. Committed professionals displaced old-timers in the military and the people of Germany were told to take pride in their army. They reclaimed the Saar and the Ruhr and simply discarded the nonsense imposed on them by the Treaties of Versailles and St. Germain

Issue 1 of Volume III of the 9-3/4 x 13-1/2 inch, 30+ page very heavily illustrated, twice-monthly professional military services magazine called Die Wehrmacht (The Armed Forces) appeared in Germany the first week of January 1939. Anything and everything that pertained to or impacted the military in Nazi Germany was reported and shown on the pages of ,,Die Wehrmacht’’. It published the official government position on all matters military.

We offer here all 27 very, very rare 1938 issues of the magazineDie Wehrmacht bound together as a 10-1/4 x 14 inch hardcover book. There are 26 numbered issues and 1 special issue. The Sonderausgabe or special issue is devoted entirely to the Condor Legion in Spain. Naturally, the fact that these issues were professionally bound when they were new has done much to preserve them over the following 68+ years. The pages and the book are in very good condition.

Among the subjects shown and discussed in articles in these 27 issues of Die Wehrmacht are the English in Palestine (now Israel), the “Scharnhorst”, Railway Engineering Troops, Building a War Ship, German Anit-aircraft Defenses West, Horses in the Army, the US Outpost at Pearl Harbor, a Tank Retriever Vehicle, Training an NCO, the Taking of Bohemia and Moravia, the March into Memel, Flak Artillery, the Condor Legion, ....
