Wehrmacht bread bag

This is a brand-new-old-stock Wehrmacht bread bag that came out of the same cardboard box as the Waffen-SS uniform, the Luftwaffe uniform and other miscellaneous Third Reich items we purchased recently. The lot had been accumulated by a single GI in Europe near the end of World War II and had not been touched since he brought it home in 1945. None of the items have ever been in the hands of a collector or messed with by a dealer.

This 10 x 12 inch leather trimmed olive green canvas bread bag is the standard issue type used by the German Army and Waffen-SS during World War II. The three steel buttons inside and the two steel buttons on the outside and the two steel D-rings on the back are grey galvanized. The center hanger is grey painted steel with a small amount of rust right at the top. The two steel D-rings on the front are unpainted and unplated. The leather attachments and straps are all black on the surface and the two straps inside the flap have a pebbled finish like many Nazi map cases.

This Third Reich bread bag is brand new-old-stock and was never issued during World War II. It is an fine example and except for the tiny amount of rust mentioned above it is in excellent condition.
