ORIGINAL THIRD REICH WHW OR
WINTERHILFSWERK MEMENTOS
In Nazi Germany the Winterhilfswerk (Winter Charity Campaign or WHW) collection campaigns took place each winter and raised a great deal of money for charitable purposes. It was common practice for those who collected the contributions to give donors a small memento to show appreciation for their contribution, and by wearing the memento it was obvious the donor had contributed money.
Some WHW mementos are superb pieces of art, some printed booklets and others are very simple. Some include semiprecious stones and some are beautifully embroidered. All have been collected since the day they were made and are very much sought after today. Each lot below is priced separately so be sure to order by lot number only.

| WHW Lot 1b (above) - consists of six 1-1/4 inch tall WHW collectibles with heavy relief. Five pieces are glass, the black runic piece is made of plastic. Each piece has a small hole drilled at the top to accommodate a string. Condition as shown, all original paint. |
WHW Lot 2a (left) - consists of four original heavily illustrated WHW books about the Führer, Adolf Hitler, and his Battle in the East. The 1-3/8 x 2 inch, approximately 36 page books are DES FÜHRERS KAMPF IM OSTEN Volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4.
| All are in good used condition, exactly as shown. Each has the original string still tied to it. Note Volume 3 was cut incorrectly at the bottom at the time of manufacture. |
| WHW Lot 5b (above) - consists of nine original plastic WHW military collectibles: artillery equipment, Wehrmacht cavalry, tracked vehicles, etc. The artillery piece in the middle is 2 inches long. Condition exactly as shown. |
| WHW Lot 15a consists of the 26 painted ceramic pieces shown above. No pins on the back but some still have their original Nazi era strings attached. The original WHW-Keramikabzeichen in the upper right hand corner of our picture is 1-1/8 inches tall. Condition exactly as shown. |
| WHW Lot 9a consists of twelve rare glass VDA (Volksbund für das Deutschtum im Ausland or People's League for German-ness Abroad) WHW collectibles from 1939. The two rarest of this lot are in the center of the bottom row: the convex round VDA-Deutsche Übersee which is 1 inch in diameter and still has its original Nazi era string and the oval crystal VDA pendant with the swastika at the bottom. The flower and swastika design is pressed in relief in the back of the crystal pendant and apparently filled with a white colored substance to set off the design. There are also several different VDA Kornblume or glass VDA corn flower pieces and two with Edelweiss flowers. Rare, highly detailed and in very good condition, exactly as shown. |

| WHW Lot 1c (above) - the five original original wooden WHW pieces measure 1-3/4 x 1-3/4 inches and show historical buildings in the German towns of Krumau, Ried, Wels, Scharding and the city gate at the end of the town square in Braunau which leads to the street where Adolf Hitler was born. The original Third Reich pins come with these WHW collectibles but they are no longer attached. Condition exactly as shown. |
| WHW Flags: Above, six plastic WHW collectibles from the series March 1940 series called FAHNEN UND STANDARTEN DER WEHRMACHT. There is a red Artillerie flag with swastikas in the corners, a gold colored Fliegertruppe flag with swastikas in the corners, a blue Kriegsmarine flag, an Infanterie flag pin with Iron Cross and swastikas in the corners, a black Pioniere flag pin and a brown flag pin of an Aufklärungsabteilung. All six still have their original Nazi era pins on the back. Condition exactly as shown. |
