Most collectors know that in Nazi Germany Winterhilfswerk (Winter Charity Campaign or WHW) collection campaigns took place each winter to raise money for charitable purposes. It was common practice for those who collected the contributions to give donors a small memento to show appreciation for their contribution, and by wearing the memento it was obvious the donor had contributed money.
Winterhilfswerk postage stamps were also produced during the Third Reich, and offered for sale on this USMBOOKS.com web page is an original 8 x 9-3/4 inch commemorative cardstock sheet designed by artist Ludwig Hesshaimer (1872 - 1956) for the Tag der Briefmarke 1941 or 1941 Day of German Stamps, especially for WHW postage stamps. Note the Kriegs-WHW illustration below the Nazi eagle and swastika.
The nine colorful genuine Winterhilfswerk Deutsches Reich postage stamps were all canceled on 12 January 1941 in Wien (Vienna, the second largest city of Adolf Hitler's Greater German Reich). Each cancelation is different but all have a military, war-time theme: a tank, a U-Boot, Fallschirmjäger, etc.
Absolutely original to the Third Reich period. Complete and in very good condition, exactly as shown.
