Das ABC des Nationalsozialismus (The ABC of National Socialism) is a 6-3/8 x 9-1/4 inch, 256 page, well-illustrated hardcover book written by Dr. Curt Rosten and published in 1933 by Commissionsverlag Schmidt & Co. GmbH. This is a Third Edition (printing run of 11-20,000) with 42 photos and a chart of Nazi Party emblems. In an added foreword by author Rosten, he mentions that the First Edition of this extremely anti-Jewish book was so well received by Parteigenossen (fellow Nazi Party members), Freunden der Bewegung (Friends of the National Socialist Movement) and the press, that a second edition was necessary almost immediately, and a Third Edition after an additional four weeks!

This edition of Das ABC des Nationalsozialismus contains full-page portrait photos of Adolf Hitler, Reichsminister Frick, President of the Reichstag Hermann Göring, Propaganda Minister Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, Potsdam Police Chief Graf von Helldorf, Alfred Rosenberg, Ritter von Epp, Dr. Rust, Wilhelm Kube, Prince August-Wilhelm (Auwi), Reichspressechef Funk, Ernst Röhm, as well as photos of early Nazi Party and SA gatherings, Hitler at Tempelhof and even a photo taken at the wedding of Dr. Goebbels and Magda Quandt where Hitler was Best Man.

Chapters have titles such as Who is Adolf Hitler?, the History of the NSDAP, the Program of the NSDAP, Hitler's View on Agriculture, the Swastika and the Swastika Flag, the German Woman and Mothers within the Nazi Party, the Nazi View on Housing, the Race Question from the National Socialist Point of View, Is the NSDAP the Party of Industrialists and Barons?, Why the National Socialists fight Big Business, Why is the National Socialist anti-Semitic?, [Nazi martyrs] Albert Leo Schlageter and Horst Wessel and more.

The Third Edition varies only slightly from the First Edition (published in early January 1933 just before Hitler was voted into power in Germany) and the changes mostly reflect the government / job titles in the captions under the photos of the National Socialists now in power and shown in this book, according to Dr. Rosten.

There are lists of Hitler's fellow combatants from the early days of the Nazi Movement and Nazi Gauleiters and their backgrounds as well as the lyrics to Das Lied der braunen Front (the Song of the [SA] Brown Front).

This 84 year old example of Das ABC des Nationalsozialismus is complete and in nice used condition. The red linen cover shows minor wear, the interior pages are in excellent condition. No writing, no pages missing, no odor.

This is a very rare Third Reich book. Few examples in this condition are offered on the internet. Much poorer copies are available on the European market for prices up to $750.00!
