During the Third Reich cell phones were not available to reserve hotel rooms, or check for nearby restaurants while en route but this handy travelers almanac was the solution! It has historical and tourist information for hundreds of towns all over Germany, things to see and do, traffic rules and regulations, traffic signs, license plate designations, etc.

Der Autotourist contains many touring suggestions and colorful maps, many of which show finished sections of the Reichsautobahn, and stretches of Hitler’s freeway system under construction or planned.

Interspersed in the text are photos of historic buildings and tourist attractions, as well as wonderful period advertising for hundreds of plain and fancy hotels, small inns, health resorts, restaurants, bars and beer halls, historic castles and other sights, banks, garages to get your car fixed, etc. all over Greater Germany - from the industrial west near the Dutch border to East Prussia and Memel.

Inside the back cover is advertising for Conti-Atlas map books and the striking full-page Hanomag ad shown above is on the front flyleaf.

The thick but compact 4-3/4 x 6-¾ inch, 824-page Autotourist has flexible hard covers and is fully indexed in the back. This 85 year old expanded edition is complete, in very good used condition. The original owner, Dr. R. Weinhandl, used a red name stamp on quite a few pages. No odor.
