Most people with an interest in the history of Third Reich Germany are familiar with the Reichsnährstand Blut und Boden, the National Socialist 'Blood and Soil' organization that oversaw and regulated agricultural production and distribution in Nazi Germany. Head of the Blut und Boden organization was Reichsbauernführer R. Walther Darré (right - reference photo of Darré in his SS uniform). National Socialists celebrated the ideology behind "Blood and Soil", and what Darré felt were the virtues of a rural agricultural life and taking pride in the sturdy stock of Germanic people of pure Aryan blood.

This is a heavy gold and silver metal emblem of the Blut und Boden organization that consists of a large 48 mm (1-7/8 inch) wide hammer-finish silver swastika with a golden grain pod on the left and a golden sword on the right. The top part of the grain pod is 7 mm or about 1/4 inch thick!

It has two original 22 mm long threaded studs on the back with a unique 10 mm brass nut on each stud, and it is safe to say that the piece was made with these studs so it could be held to a piece of wood or stone about 20 mm (¾ inch) thick. It weighs 65 grams (2.4 oz)!

Over the decades we have bought and sold Blut und Boden membership IDs, Blut und Boden revenue stamps, Blut und Boden badges and enamel signs, but we have never seen this kind of heavy Blut und Boden metal emblem. It may have started life as a car radiator badge, or an emblem on a significant wood or stone object of some kind. We do not know. We do know that it is 100% original and in very nice condition, exactly as shown in our photos.

We acquired it as part of a large lot of Third Reich memorabilia from the estate of a deceased American officer who brought it back to South Dakota from Europe.

We will ship this Blut und Boden metal emblem affixed by the studs and nuts to a thick wooden board to avoid the possibility of damage.
