Hitler Movement, early Nazi swastika flag
Das Buch der N.S.D.A.P. begins with a recap of the very earliest days not only of the Party, but of its predecessors as well. Day-by-day it works its way through chapters with names like The End of World War I, The Creation of a Movement, Der Führer, Germany Awake!, The SA Marches, Hitler Speeches during Desperate German Times,The Action of 8 November 1923, The Trial and Imprisonment of Hitler, The Collapse and Rebuilding of the Nazi Party, right through the Nazi victory in the 1933 German elections.

There is a very interesting list of names of Braunhemden (Brown Shirts), heroes who supported Hitler from the early days of the Hitler Movement. They include well-known men such as Josef Bürckel, Josef ‘Sepp’ Dietrich, Hans Frank, Wilhelm Frick, Joseph Goebbels, Hermann Goering, Konstantin Hierl, Heinrich Himmler, Erich Koch, Robert Ley, Viktor Lutze, Martin Mutschmann, Alfred Rosenberg, Hans Schemm, Jakob Sprenger, Gregor Strasser, Josef Terboven, just to name a few.

Left is one of the most poignant of the many rare pictures in this book which shows a Bavarian Police seal on the locked door of a business. The seal says that the business operator was found “guilty of price fixing and is in protective custody at Dachau” over the name of Bavarian Police Commander Heinrich Himmler.
Other pictures show early supporters of the Hitler Movement (Julius Streicher, Alfred Rosenberg, Gottfried Feder, Anton Drexler & Hermann Esser), political unrest in the streets of Berlin, early offices of the Nazi Party in Munich, Deutscher Tag in Nuremberg, men on trial at Hitler-Ludendorff-Prozess (Hitler, Kriebel, Röhm, Frick, Brückner), the 1929 Nazi Reichsparteitag in Nürnberg, Goebbels giving speeches, Hitler Youth gatherings, Hitler, Himmler and Goebbels during the Horst Wessel commemoration, Hitler surrounded by SS men (including Sepp Dietrich) in Köningsberg, 21 March 1933 Potsdam Day, SA and SS Appell at the Sportpalast in Berlin on 8 April 1933, a uniformed SA men in front of a Jewish owned store (Kauft nicht bei Juden!), the 1933 Nazi Party Days in Nürnberg, and many more photos not found in other Third Reich publications.
This rare 88 year old example of Das Buch der NSDAP is in very nice condition complete with the unusual full-page Eugen Denze illustration of Reichskanzler Adolf Hitler facing the title page. The maroon leather spine with gold blocking is in very nice condition and the four maroon leather corners are all there and have only minor wear. This fine illustrated history of the Nazi Movement has no unpleasant odor.
