The Illustrierter Beobachter (JB or Illustrated Observer) was the Nazi Party German language weekly photo tabloid published in München (Munich) by Verlag Franz Eher Nachfolger, but read by just about everybody, all over Nazi Germany, Austria and other countries with a German speaking population.

This lot consists of FOUR historic Illustrierter Beobachter issues dated 22 April 1937, 10 June 1937, 8 and 15 July 1937.

The big 11 x 15 inch newspapers have a total of 140 pages with photo features about Reichsleiter Dr. Robert Ley’s visit to Italy, the 55th anniversary of General Ludendorff’s military career (he died six months later in December 1937), Dr. Bernhard Rust representing the Führer at German led excavations at Olympia, Greece, spring in Tokyo, a visit to Fliegerhorst Schleißheim near Munich, Alfred Krupp, a visit to the Knightsbridge barracks of the life guards of the British King, Hitler at the opening of the National Agriculture Exhibition in Munich, the sinking of the Panzerschiff Deutschland after it was attacked by Spanish loyalist planes while anchored off Ibiza, Nazi Air Minister Goering visiting men of Geschwader General Wever, Hermann and Emmy Göring at the dedication of the Emmy Göring Foundation in Weimar, the DAF, the Day of German Art and preparations for the Day of German Art parade, KdF entertainment for DAF members, the rough Mittelgebirgsfahrt car and motorcycle off-road races attended by NSKK Korpsführer Adolf Hühnlein, International Chamber of Commerce Meeting in Berlin, and more.

These big, popular 11 x 15 inch Nazi news magazines also contain a few short stories, humorous cartoons, crossword puzzles, and advertising for different brands of cigarettes and razor blades, Palmolive soap, Schwarzkopf shampoo, Miele vacuum cleaners, Nivea cream, Zeiss-Ikon and Exakta cameras, Auto-Union automobiles, Hensoldt binoculars, Agfa and Kodak film, Diana air rifles, Zeiss binoculars, Felina corsets, Dr. Oetker baking products, Henkell champagne, and even for the HJ magazine Wille und Macht and the new book Das Deutschland Adolf Hitlers, a special edition of JB.

These four rare 85 year old editions of Illustrierter Beobachter are complete, in very nice used condition and they have no writing, nothing torn out and no offensive odor.
