ULTRA RARE NAZI PARTY ILLUSTRATED OBSERVER ISSUES FROM 1932 TO 1938 BOUND AS A BOOK WEIGHING NINE POUNDS!

Illustrierter Beobachter 19 November 1932
Illustrierter Beobachter, Nazi Party newspaper
Early issues of Nazi Party publications are among the most sought after NSDAP material in the 21st century, as researchers and scholars seek to uncover the mysteries of the power behind the little rag-tag Nazi Party and emphasis has been placed squarely on ephemeral material that was overlooked and discarded as “common” during the Third Reich and in the de-Nazification process in the wake of German surrender at the end of World War II. The 36 weekly issues offered here are VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND 80+ YEARS LATER.

The JB or Illustrierter Beobachter was the Nazi Party weekly photo newspaper published in Munich by Verlag Franz Eher Nachfolger (the Central Publishing House of the Nazi Party), but read by just about everybody, all over Germany. Each 10 x 14 inch issue contained about 10-14 pages of the very latest news, photographs and information gathered from around the world including plenty from the United States, France and England. The paper was published every Saturday and sold for only 20 Reichspfennigs, the equivalent of 12 US cents.

Nazi government in the Reichskanzlei, Rudolf Hess
anti-Jewish Nazi news

Die Juden, Gottfried Feder

anti-Jewish Nazi cartoons, anti-Semitism
Someone in Germany at the time these issues were published with a strong sense of the historical importance of them, took the time to carefully save them and have them bound as a very large hard-back book. These 1930s issues are an irreplaceable, heavily photographic history of the process that lifted the tiny Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei our of obscurity and on to the front pages of newspapers and magazines worldwide.
anti-Jewish Nazi cartoons
These Nazi newspapers contain a lot of coverage of the news leading up to the historic German elections that resulted in Hitler becoming chancellor on the “Historic Day” 30 January 1933. Hitler’s revolutionary electioneering flights through Germany (stops in East Prussia, Coburg, Nuremberg and Cologne are pictured), huge rallies and small gatherings, election results, introducing new Nazi politicians and cabinet members, SA marches and gatherings in Berlin after the election victory, NSDAP politicians starting their new jobs, the new Nazi cabinet in the Reichskanzlei in Berlin, and some rest for the Führer at the Berghof at Berchtesgaden after the busy Reichswahl months.

This huge 2 x 10-¼ x 14-½ inch NINE POUND book contains historical Nazi Party and German election material of the most valuable kind. It is an historical treasure in terms of obscure information about the period that would be very, very difficult to find in the largest research libraries, and the image content is unimaginable 80 years after the photos were taken.

Nazi election propaganda

The newspaper was, for the Nazi Party (in their own words), "a counter-weight to the Jewish Press" that dominated newspaper publishing in Germany as the small party rose to power. Thus, many of the articles or illustrations in JB in the early 1930s were of the strongest possible anti-Jewish nature many focussing on the "corrupt, lying and shameful" Jewish press in Germany.

Each issue of Illustrierter Beobachter had cartoons, and in the early 1930s editions many were very anti-Jewish in nature. Caricatures of Jewish bankers with big noses, Jewish salesmen smoking big cigars, Jewish tailors, and even a Jewish journalist being drowned in bottle of ink by a nazi wearing a swastika armband on his uniform!
