This is an exact copy of an extremely rare piece of original Third Reich advertising published at the time when four million copies of Adolf Hitler’s bestseller Mein Kampf had been printed. The publicity brochure is undated but we know it was produced in mid-1938 as the text in this rare publication mentions that that is when four million examples had been sold.

The heavily illustrated 5-¾ x 8-¼ inch, 18-page booklet for Das Buch der Deutschen (The Book for Germans) has a portrait of Der Führer inside the front cover with a caption stating that Mein Kampf had made millions of German citizens familiar with the concept of National Socialism.

There is a section in the booklet about Jewish criticism of Mein Kampf, as well as interesting information about the many translated foreign editions that were in print by mid-1938. American, British, Swedish, Italian, French, Danish, Hungarian, Spanish and Portuguese are among the editions pictured (left & below), and the back cover has a color map showing some of them.

A short background history of the reason behind writing the book in Landsberg Prison follows, as well as information and pictures of the many different editions printed around the world. The brochure also mentions that 20,000 German cities gave Mein Kampf as a present to newlyweds. “What could be a better wedding present than a book about the destiny of Germany?”

We have sold a few originals of this book in the past but finding a good used example anymore is somewhere between very difficult and impossible. We were recently able to acquire a few beautiful, perfect reproductions of the identical Third Reich history of the printing of the first four million copies of Mein Kampf. Limited availablility!
