Christmas was of course, the biggest holiday of the year in all of Germany, and that did not change materially because of the Nazi Party or the Second World War. Deutsche Kriegsweihnacht (German War Christmas) is a songbook that contains the popular old German Christmas standards.

The 5-3/4 x 9 inch, 32-page softcover book was published by the Hauptkulturamt der NSDAP in der Reichspropagandaleitung, the Main Culture Department of the Nazi Party Propaganda Office.

The songs in this book include O Tannenbaum, Komm lieber Weihnachtsmann, Bald nun ist Weihnachtszeit, Fröhliche Weihnacht, ein Jahr muss nun vergehen, etc. Each song has composer and author information and in many cases the publisher or source. For example, the song Es hat in der Tiefschwarzen Nacht geschneit came from a Hitler Youth music publication previously published by Ludwig Voggenreiter Verlag of Potsdam.

This undated German Christmas songbook from World War II is in very good condition. The bottom one inch has been neatly cut off the back cover, but no text or illustrations are missing. No odor.
