ORIGINAL MAY 1940 EDITIONS OF THE ‘ILLUSTRATED WEEKLY NEWSPAPER

| This is a lot of three original May 1940 examples of the Reichskriegerzeitung, the illustrated weekly newspaper of the NS-Reichskriegerbund (Kyffhäusserbund), the National Socialist State Veterans Association, published in Berlin. The editor in chief was Otto Riebicke, a German World War I veteran and author who also wrote the text for the rare Nazi 3D book Der Erste Großdeutsche Reichskriegertag (The First Greater-German State War Veteran's Day). These are the 5, 19 and 26 May 1940 editions for the Donau region of the Reichskriegerzeitung. Each 12-½ x 18-¼ inch Illustrierte Wochenzeitung has 10 illustrated pages. |

| Different military and political subjects are covered in these 83 year old newspapers. The German Wehrmacht invasion of in Norway, the invasion of Holland, Belgium and France, the German World War I Alpenkorps, Italy’s Air Force, exemplary Wehrmacht soldiers, the “Pharmacy of the Wehrmacht”, the diminishing glory of England, the war in France, a visit to a modern Luftwaffe airplane factory, military exercises for SS-Junker, protection of Germany’s air space, and an interesting article called Kamerad Frau about women working in an army ammunition factory. |
There are maps of Holland and France, the lyrics for the Panzerschützenlied and the Engellandlied, as well as announcements about promotions and deaths of members of the NS-Reichskriegerbund.

These three rare 83 year old NS-Reichskriegerbund newspapers are complete and in very good used condition. They do not have any writing, they are not particularly brittle and they have no odor. Sold as a lot only.

Two newspapers still have their original Parole Buch. It is a two-sided sheet with Führeranordnungen, the latest regulations and announcements for members of the NS-Reichskriegerbund. They include the announcement that Reichsführer-SS Himmler promoted SS-Brigadeführer and Gaukriegerführer Fritsch to SS-Oberführer as well as things like upcoming WHW charity collection for the DRK (above), concerts, new NS-Reichskriegerbund lapel pins, special funeral wreath ribbons, new books, etc.
There are also announcements for veteran get-togethers and reunions, as well as “searches” for lost comrades (Kamerad wo bist du?). There is interesting advertising for veteran medals, life insurance for war veterans, Torpedo bicycles, Hohner harmonicas, Nivea cream, Efasit foot power, pistols, hair dye, cigarettes, testosterone medication, coffee, weight loss pills, etc., etc.
