An excellent 8 x 10-1/4 inch, very heavily illustrated 144 page, hardcover book called FLIEGERHORST OSTMARK (Air Base Austria) by Major Walther Urbanek as published by National Socialist Gauverlag und Druckerei Tirol, in Innsbruck, Germany (now Austria) in 1941.

The book begins with full-page photographs of Adolf Hitler and Hermann Göring and then covers in detail the deployment of Luftwaffe Südost and Luftgau XVII.

The photo coverage is great with well-captioned pictures of many Nazi Generals including Löhr and Hirschauer (shown above), troop assemblies, aircraft of many types, flak defenses firing 88s, the bomber base at Wiener-Neustadt, Luftwaffe troops in Slovakia, Fallschirmjäger (paratroopers) in Narvik, Norway, bombing targets in France, victory in France, bombing England, Luftwaffe Propagandakompanie men at work in the air, Luftwaffe barracks and training, aircraft maintenance, Day of the Wehrmacht exercises, and even Family Day at the air base!

Time-off recreational activities for Luftwaffe men are pictured including movies, USO type shows, ping pong, skiing, etc.

This 1941 First Edition example of Fliegerhorst Ostmark is complete and in very good used condition.  It comes with its original Third Reich dust jacket which is in fair condition - see photo left.
