This is a nice original example of the 6-¼ x 8-1/4 inch, 128 page, heavily illustrated soft cover book Helmut Wick - das Leben eines Fliegerhelden (Helmut Wick - the Life of a Flying Hero) as published by Verlag Scherl in Berlin for Der Adler in 1943.
Wick was of course, one of the great heroes of the Luftwaffe of Hermann Göring. A renowned Me109 fighter pilot and winner of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves on a par with other remarkable pilots like Werner Mölders, Adolf Galland, etc. On the occasion of his 40th victory in the air, Adolf Hitler presented him with the Oak Leaves to his Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross at the Berghof on the Obersalzberg, above Berchtesgaden.
