During the latter half of the Third Reich in Germany each person who joined the Nazi Party was presented with a memento - a book - in remembrance of the occasion. That book was Ich Kämpfe or "I Fight". A very special edition of the book was printed on high quality paper with special color content for distribution to Adolf Hitler's "Old Guard" on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Nazi assumption of power in Germany on 20 January 1943.
The front end paper of this special edition of Ich Kämpfe bears a printed handwritten dedication and congratulation to the Führer's Old Guard from the Acting Gauleiter of München-Oberbayern and Bavarian Ministerpräsident Paul Giesler (in Hitler's 1945 Will, Giesler was also promoted to Minister of the Interior). Giesler was a true Nazi to the bitter end who held enormous powers in much of southern Germany.

Ich Kämpfe is an 8-1/2 x 9-1/2 inch, 100 page, very heavily illustrated, softcover book published by the Central Publishing House of the NSDAP, Franz Eher Nachfolger in München (Munich). The book contains 18 full-page and half-page full-color photographs of subjects ranging from a striking Hitler Portrait to the
Berghof, the
Braunes Haus, Hitler's Prison Cell in Landsberg and the
Reichsautobahn to Braunau am Inn. Thirty-one black & white photos deal with subjects such as the
Reichschancellery in Berlin,
Horst Wessel, Ordensburgen,
Nazi Party Day, the Wehrmacht, a
SS man, the Hitler
Youth, etc.

The text of
Ich Kämpfe was written by leaders of the various paramilitary sections of the Nazi Party as a testament to the success of their Movement. There are sections by Dr. Josef Goebbels, Reichsleiters
Phillip Bouhler, Alfred Rosenberg,
Dr. Robert Ley, Professor Dr. Groß, Arthur Axmann, etc. Subjects covered include the SS, the SA, NSFK, NSF, NSKK, Promise of Loyalty to the
Führer,
Program of the NSDAP, the German Concept of Freedom, the National Socialist Revolution, Honor List of the Martyrs of the Movement, Our Will, the Responsibilities of Political Leaders, the National Socialist Way of Life, the Responsibility of Party Members, Dates in the
History of the NSDAP, etc., etc.
Ich Kämpfe was considered such a dangerous book by the Allies at the end of World War II, that denazification commissions sought out and destroyed every example they could find on sight. The result of that effort is that original examples are extremely rare today.
This particular original example of the rare Old Guard edition of Ich Kämpfe from 1943 has an embossed brown and cream cover. It is in very good condition and is printed on much better paper than the ordinary 1943 and 1944 editions.
We will supply a complete English language translation of all text and picture captions to the buyer of this rare original book.
