This is an incredible find for a Luftwaffe collector somewhere. It is a brand-new-old-stock Luftwaffe jacket and overcoat that came out of the same cardboard box as the Waffen-SS uniform and other miscellaneous Third Reich items we purchased in the fall of 2009. The lot had been accumulated by a single GI in Europe near the end of World War II and had not been touched since he brought it home in 1945. None of the items have ever been in the hands of a collector or messed with by a dealer.

LUFTWAFFE OVERCOAT

The blue-gray wool Luftwaffe overcoat is also brand-new, never issued and has the manufacturer's paper label still attached to the left cuff. It also still has the pink paper tailoring label attached below the button holes on the inside of the front flap.

LBA stands for Luftwaffebekleidungsamt or Luftwaffe Clothing Department.

CONDITION: the Luftwaffe overcoat has standard gold-trimmed shoulder boards sewed in and two standard golden collar tabs sewed to the collar. All the inside and outside buttons are precisely as issued and all are there. The backs of the aluminum buttons are marked EXTRA FINE and have a logo with the letter N in a triangle.

We have inspected this Luftwaffe coat carefully and can find one solitary defect (shown right): a small round hole the size of a pin head 3-1/2 inches below the bottom button in the left hand row. We could have repaired it but we chose not to do so.

The overall condition of this Luftwaffe overcoat is excellent with the exception of the tiny hole mentioned above.
