This 1937 photo documentary of Nazi Germany, its people and landscape, has snapshots of things that make Nazi Germany a Heimat or homeland "worth returning to" according to author Ernst Balk. While the text is only a small portion of the book, it is full of patriotic sentences, praise for Adolf Hitler and Nazi concepts such as Lebensraum. Improvements in modern photography are also discussed, but in the closing words it is clear that Mein Deutschland should be considered as a loving photo tribute to the new German homeland and the people that helped and worked so hard to create it.

Mein Deutschland - Mensch und Landschaft (My Germany - its People and Landscape) is a compilation of many wonderful photos of Nazi Germany, published by Büchergilde Gutenberg of Berlin in 1937.

The 7-½ x 10-½ inch linen-bound hardcover book has 172 pages of which about 40 are patriotic text by Ernst Wilhelm Balk (of Büchergilde Gutenberg ) and Reinhold Kolb (a photographer).

The remaining 130+ glossy pages have clear photos of National Socialist architecture such as the impressive NSDAP buildings on the Königsplatz in Munich (right), Nazi Ordensburg Crössinsee, marching SA and RAD men, NSKK motorcyclists, Wehrmacht troops, the Reichsautobahn, the Kriegsmarine Panzerschiff Deutschland and Luftwaffe airplanes, Hitler Youth boys and BdM girls, and even a photo of a WHW charity collection can with many hands inserting coins, signifying that it took many people, many helping hands to make all the improvements in Nazi Germany since 1933.

Naturally, there are also photos of the Berlin Olympic Stadium, German river traffic and heavy industry, half-timbered houses, city architecture and farm houses, vineyards on the Mosel river, animals and flowers, German laborers, aryan children and the elderly, churches and statues, etc.

Photos in Mein Deutschland are by Messerschmitt, Heinrich Hoffmann, Hansa Luftbild, Presse-Bild-Zentrale, Reinhold Kolb and many other photographers from all over Germany, all neatly indexed.

This 83 year old Nazi photo book is complete and in excellent condition. No odor. Name of original owner handwritten on the front fly leaf.
