This is a rare complete edition of the Hamburger Anzeiger, the New Hamburg Newspaper, for Wednesday 9 August 1944.

The front page has photos and news about the verdict for eight of the Verbrecher or criminals involved in the 20 July 1944 plot to kill Adolf Hitler. Generalfeldmarschall Erwin von Witzleben (pictured during the trial), Generaloberst Erich Höpner, Generalmajor Helmutt Stieff, Generalleutnant Paul von Hase, Oberstleutnant Robert Bernadis, Leutnant Peter Graf York von Wartenburg, Albrecht von Hagen, and Hauptmann Friedrich Karl Klausing were all hung two hours after their sentences were pronounced.
Schweinehunde Traitors Beck, Höpner and Witzleben
Nazi V1 rocket
1945 Heldentod, Terrorangriffe
The back page has many announcements of military and civilian war deaths. The Heldentod or hero's death of members of the Wehrmacht sometimes mention the location of death (in the East) and/or medals, and many of the deceased died as a result of Terrorangriffe, or Allied “terror” attacks. Note the German Crosses in the image shown right.

This rare 78 year old 4-page, 15 x 22 inch newspaper from Hamburg contains very historic news. It was stored very carefully by a true believer and is in very nice, little used condition. No odor.
This historic 9 August 1944 edition of the Hamburger Anzeiger is for
sale for $124.95 plus postage (see options below).

The front page also has war news from Normandy and the East Front, as well as the announcement of the suicide of US Admiral Don Pardee Moon. This World War II Nazi newspaper also contains announcements about members of the Wehrmacht receiving Knights Crosses and Oak Leaf additions, the V1 rocket, as well as additional background information about the villainous plan to kill Hitler on 20 July 1944. Traitors Beck, Höpner and Witzleben are referred to as Schweinehunde, bastards or SOBs, a far more vulgar word in German than its literal translation into English (see right).
