FINE ORIGINAL NAZI POLICE POCKET CALENDAR FOR 1941

Text and images copyright © 2023 by USM, Inc.
Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, Totenkopf visor cap
20 April, Hitler birthday
This is a exceptionally nice, little-used example of the rare circa 400 page heavily illustrated Die Deutsche Polizei Taschenkalender 1941 (German Police Pocket Calendar 1941) as published by order of the Reichsführer-SS and Chief of German Police in the Nazi Ministry of the Interior, Heinrich Himmler for the Kameradschaft deutscher Polizeibeamten by Verlag Deutsche Kultur-Wacht in Berlin, Germany.

The 4-1/8 x 5-3/4 inch Nazi police pocket calendar starts with a Hoffmann photo portrait of Reichsführer der SS und Chef der deutschen Polizei im Reichsministerium des Innern Heinrich Himmler and another photo portrait of General der Polizei Kurt Daluege, SS-Obergruppenführer und Chef der Ordnungspolizei.
The first text in the book is a recap of the role the Ordnungspolizei played in the first year of the war. The Index is followed by calendars for the years 1941 and 1942 on one page, followed by 52 pages of calendar pages which have room for appointments and notes. No one has done any writing in this section.

Polizei-Bataillon Holleschau, November 1941
Page 392 is a request by SS-Oberführer Willy Luckner of the Kameradschaft deutscher Polizeibeamten to submit material for the 1942 German Police Pocket Calendar by 31 July 1941. The last eight pages are the Notizen pages and they are filled with miscellaneous pencil notes of the original owner.

This Die Deutsche Polizei Taschenkalender 1941 came with a neatly folded up Dienstplan or schedule for Zug Gömann of the Reserve-Polizei-Bataillon Holleschau(shown left).

The town of Holleschau is just east of Brno (now Holesov in the Czech Republic). As of April 1941 Polizei-Bataillon Holleschau was part of the Polizei-Regiment Mähren (Moravia) and in January 1942 it was tranfered to the Ordnungspolizei in Krakau.

Die deutsche Polizei: Taschenkalender für die Schutzpolizei des Reiches und der Gemeinden und Verwaltungspolizei 1941
Nazi police calendar 1941 and 1942
Chapters that follow cover principles of the police, the Program of the Nazi Party, the organization of the NSDAP and its various paramilitary organizations, the German Armed Forces, German Parliament and different levels of government officials, Hitler’s speech to the police at the 1937 Nazi Party Day in Nürnberg, followed by the explanation of laws including citizenship law, and the 1935 Nuremberg Racial Laws.

The next section of this Polizei Taschenkalender 1941 covers laws for civil servants, including those employed by the German Police. Salary, housing allowance, reimbursement for transfer and travel expenses, retirement benefits, death benefits, regulations for widows and orphans, medals and decorations, uniform regulations, etc., etc.

It is the schedule for 17 thru 22 November 1941 and includes physical training, one hour of weapon cleaning, a 50 minute class on the Gewehr 98, and police studies including lessons on the duties of the TeNo, Kripo, Stapo, SD, Wehrmacht, Nazi Party, and Red Cross. Every day there was an hour of Weltanschauliche Schulung, or National Socialist Ideological Education as well.
This rare original example of the Die deutsche Polizei: Taschenkalender für die Schutzpolizei des Reiches und der Gemeinden und Verwaltungspolizei 1941 is in fine used condition and has no odor.
