This is a very rare Soldaten-Führer durch Warschau, an original World War II guide book for Nazi soldiers visiting or stationed in Warsaw, Poland, or the Generalgouvernement as it was called officially. The Nazi soldier guidebook begins with a brief history of the Polish capital. Page 1 starts with the sentence that Warsaw is not a city that is particularly worth seeing! The second chapters is about the battle of Warsaw from 24 - 28 September 1939 and the destruction of the Polish Army. It mentions the ‘hero's death’ of General Freiherr von Fritsch on 22 September 1939 and is accompanied by a picture (shown left) of the monument that was erected at the spot where the famous German General was killed, a few kilometers northeast of the city.
The "Tour of the City" section in Soldaten-Führer durch Warschau begins at the headquarters of the Oberfeldkommandantur Warschau on Adolf Hitler Square. It goes on to cover the cathedral, theaters, public gardens, graves of famous Warsaw citizens, monuments, etc.
Pictures show battle damage in the center of Warsaw, Oberfeldkommandantur Warschau on Adolf-Hitler-Platz, City Hall, narrow alleys in the old part of town, the Presidential Palace complete with Reichskriegsflagge, a rickshaw taxi in front of the German General Staff Building, Belvedere Palace, a Soldatenheim on Three Crosses Square in the central district of Warsaw, the Weichsel River, etc.
The typically missing original fold-out Warsaw street map is still attached inside the back cover of this 4-5/8 x 6-5/8 inch Soldaten-Führer durch Warschau. It shows downtown Warsaw, the Weichsel river and the historic sights that were mentioned in the Tour of the City, as well as guarded parking areas. Note the Jüdischer Wohnbezirk or Warsaw Ghetto on the upper-left side of the map. Betreten verboten means entry to the ghetto was forbidden!

Left, the index to the map pointing out the Oberfeldkommandantur, the Wehrmacht Theater and Stadium, Schutzpolizei HQ, soldier facilities, as well as the road to the General Fritsch memorial (number 25).

The guidebook also contains advertising by uniform shops, hotels, the Soldatengaststätte on Adolf Hitler Square (open daily from 7:00 - 22:00), butchers, radio and furniture stores and even Polfit, “an irreplaceable aid against all vermin and bugs”, and according to the text in the ad it was available for purchase “everywhere”!
