Raststätten an der Reichsautobahn (Rest Stops on the State Freeways) is a very rare 1939 publication by Volk und Reich Verlag Berlin. The material in this 9-¼ x 12 inches, 72 pages softcover publication was assembled by Walter Jedwill, Friedrich August Finger and Waldemar Wucher and it still contains the, frequently missing, huge 16 x 25 inch tipped-in fold-out architectural drawing of the ground floor of the Rasthaus am Chiemsee!

Chapters in this book cover the development of modern freeway rest stops on the German Reichsautobahn, rest stops on old German highways, the Reichsautobahn Rasthaus am Chiemsee, the Nazi freeway rest stop at Magdeburger Börde and the rest stop at Holledau just north of Munich on the Reichsautobahn to Nürnberg.
There are maps of finished and planned stretches of the Reichsautobahn in Nazi Germany, detailed architectural drawings, photos of finished sections of the freeway system, many interior detail and exterior photos of the Rasthaus am Chiemsee and the Rasthaus at Magdeburger Börde and its Tankstelle or gas station. The Rasthaus an der Holledau Brücke (400 meters long) is shown as an architectural model, in architectural drawings, and in photographs of the completed rest house.

Raststätten an der Reichsautobahn is a very rare Third Reich publication. It is absolutely fundamental to any study of the Reichsautobahn, the world's first freeway system. Many of the photographs and drawings in this book are NOT to be found elsewhere. Extremely hard to find!
This 84 year old example of Raststätten an der Reichsautobahn is in very nice used condition with replica dust jacket, made from an original in our archive. It is complete with the huge, frequently missing, tipped-in fold-out architectural drawing! No odor.
