This is a very nice original example of the 6th edition of Esso Handbuch für Dieselfahrer printed by the Deutsch-Amerikanische Petroleum Gesellschaft, DAPAG or German-American Gasoline Company, the German name for Standard Oil Company in Nazi Germany (the name was changed when the Germans and Russians invaded Poland in the fall of 1939).

The 5-½ x 8-¼ inch, 96-page heavily illustrated Werbeschrift starts with a Spring 1939 dated foreword about the invention of the diesel engine by Rudolf Diesel and its development since 1892. It explains that this publication was produced to help understand and care for the diesel engine and its specific traits, and that user tips are shared to help drivers get the most out of their vehicles with diesel engines.

This original 83 year old Esso Handbuch für Dieselfahrer is printed on high quality paper and is in very nice, little used condition. It is complete with a tight spine, no odor, no writing. Rare!

The book has twelve different well-illustrated, highly detailed technical sections on operating and maintaining diesel trucks of which we have shown only a few examples. It is the only Third Reich publication we know of that covers this subject. It is beautifully illustrated with detailed line drawings and inside the front and back cover are colorful Verkehrszeichen or traffic signs.
