Text and images copyright © 2024 by USM, Inc.
Geheime Staatspolizei in Munich
Bayerische Zeitung, 4 March 1941
The front page also has an interesting article about evacuated children from Hamburg that were resettled in Bavaria through the Kinderlandverschickung (KLV) organization, with the help of Gauleiter Adolf Wagner. Dr. Fritz Todt had made the Reichsautobahn Raststätte at the Chiemsee available, and children were also housed at the Adolf-Hitler-Jugendherberge in Berchtesgaden as well as in youth hostels in Bad Tölz, Oberammergau, Mittenwald and other picturesque Bavarian villages.

There are also articles about Japanese military successes in China, British barrage balloons over Sweden, heavy fighting in North Africa, the real purpose of the visit by British Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden to Turkey (the occupation of Suria), successful Luftwaffe raids on London and Tobruk, the funeral ceremony for exiled Spanish King Alfons XIII in Rome, Rudolf Hess’ visit to a RAD camp for women, the Leipziger Messe, King Henry III of France, and more.

This is the original 8-page Monday 4 March 1941 edition of the Bayerische Zeitung published in Munich. It is from the archive of the Geheime Staatspolizei in Munich and has an original Gestapo stamp above the masthead.
