This is a very nice used example of Marsch und Kampf des deutschen Afrikakorps as published by the Generalkommando des deutschen Afrikakorps in 1943. The text in this fine hardcover Nazi book and all its photo captions are in both the German and Italian languages and the word sahara in Arabic lettering is on the front cover above the title.
The 8-1/2 x 12 inches, 216-page hardcover book starts with a handwritten foreword by and full-page portrait of Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel, followed by full-page portraits of Generalleutnant Ludwig Crüwell, Oberst iG Beyerlein (Chef des Generalstabes des deutschen Afrikakorps), Generalmajor Walter Neumann-Sylkow, Generalmajor Johann von Ravenstein and Generalmajor Max Sümmermann (Neumann-Sylkow and Sümmermann both died on the battlefield in 1941).

Marsch und Kampf des deutschen Afrikakorps is very, very well-illustrated by Kurt Caesar with extremely graphic pictures of British casualties, destroyed British equipment, German planes downing British aircraft, German and Italian tanks, a Fieseler Storch above one of Rommel’s tanks in the desert, Arabic desert fortresses, soldier cemeteries, Ju 52 transport planes, camouflaged FLAK installations, a field kitchen, and the heroics of members of the Afrikakorps and their Italian partners.
This DAK book explains with text and maps the different areas in North Africa where battles took place in 1941. There is information about transport logistics, desert warfare and the difficulties of desert dust and sand, the superior Luftwaffe and Wehrmacht Panzerarmee, Italian troops, Italian colonization of Libya, etc.
Marsch und Kampf des deutschen Afrikakorps has many maps showing the battlefields and German progress in North Africa.
This fine DAK unit history was published in Munich by Carl Röhrig Verlag in 1943. The brown linen spine has an emboss of a palm tree and swastika which is mostly worn off. This nearly 81 year old example of Marsch und Kampf des deutschen Afrikakorps is complete and in very good condition with a tight spine and no odor. A previous owner in Berlin stamped his name on the title page (see picture left) and inside the front cover.
Note on the picture of the title page shown left, that this is Band I or Volume I. A Volume II was never published.
