Das Dritte Reich IV is book number 4 in a set of seven consecutive volumes of spectacular very heavily illustrated half-leather tan linen bound hardcover books that officially document the history of the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler. Das Dritte Reich (The Third Reich) was written by prominent Nazi jurist, author and member of the Reichstag Gerd Rühle and published each year in the 1930s by Hummelverlag of Berlin, Germany.
Das Dritte Reich IV is fundamental to any study of the subjects of National Socialism, Adolf Hitler, the Third Reich and its personalities, Nazi medals, orders and decorations, Nazi Party advertising and propaganda, early Nazi Party Days, etc., etc. The text and archival photos are simply not available elsewhere.
This is a brief list of some of the subjects covered in pictures: Nazi regimental standards, Hitler Youth posters and Reichsberufswettkampf material, the new Nazi Hoheitszeichen, service medals of the Wehrmacht, new Nazi flags, Nazi election posters and ballots, a map of the Reichsautobahn, Olympic medals, newspapers, coins and special postal material, foreign covers of Hitler's book Mein Kampf, Hitler presentation pieces, Nazi posters, the Vierjahresplan, Reichsparteitag 1936, making gasoline from coal, Hitler addressing old comrades at the Bürgerbräukeller in Munich, the Graf Zeppelin and Hindenburg above the Brandenburg Gate, Max Schmeling’s boxing victory over ‘half-negro’ Joe Louis, photo portraits of high-ranking Nazis, Joseph and Magda Goebbels in Venice, television, the funeral of Wilhelm Gustloff, the military on parade, the Ordensburgen at Sonthofen, Crössinsee and Vogelsang, SS guards at the crypt of Heinrich I in Quedlinburg, the Kriegsmarine memorial at Laboe, the battleships Deutschland and Admiral Scheer, the Berlin Olympic Stadium, German Olympic athletes, the return of the Rhineland to Germany, concentration camps, mentally defective people, military maneuvers, and the house in Davos in which Wilhelm Gustloff was murdered by a Jew named Frankfurter.

Authorized by the NSDAP, the text portion of this book covers virtually every aspect of the history and personalities of the Nazi Party in 1936. This 6-3/4 x 9-3/4 inch book contains 488 pages and at the back there is a section of about 100 pages of archival photos, newspaper reproductions, portraits, and ephemera that is simply unavailable elsewhere.
There are pages and pages of rare photos of early Nazi Party political posters, full-color Wehrmacht flags and standards (shown above), medals, anti-Semitic boycott material, accusations of German atrocities, Reichsparteitag (Nazi Party Days), Zeppelins, the Ordensburg Schools, the new Reichsautobahn, Winterhilfswerk (WHW), the Olympics in Berlin and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, portraits of dozens of Nazi Party, SS and military leaders, electioneering and of course, more political victory.
This rare 1936 volume of Das Dritte Reich is in very good condition and is in the most expensive binding available. The binding is tan linen with dark corners and spine which has embossed gold blocking. The binding is tight and the 85+ year old Third Reich book has no odor.
The set provides the most comprehensive documentation available of the important events and the day-by-day milestones of each year in the growth, stabilization and expansion of the political power of the Nazi Party in Germany. This huge book is the 4th volume in the set and covers events of the year 1936 only.
This example of Das Dritte Reich IV contains two frequently missing fold-out pages - a replica of the Nazi Party newspaper Völkischer Beobachter that measures about 9-1/2 x 12 inches (shown above), and the map of the Berlin Olympic Grounds measures 9-1/2 x 18 inches (below).
This fine hardcover book with Nazi milestones of the year 1936 is
