In the introduction on the first page dated 15 June 1941, the German Inselkommandant (Island Commander) writes that he hopes this booklet will provide a lasting memory for the German occupation troops of Guernsey.

This is a 100% original commemorative publication produced for as a souvenir during World War II for German Wehrmacht occupation soldiers who were stationed on Guernsey, one of the German occupied British Channel Islands. The 4-3/8 x 6-1/4 inch, 24-page Erinnerungsblatt für den deutschen Soldaten has chapters about the island’s history, geography, climate, flora and fauna, its population, language, money, postage stamps as well as historical things to see. It has many photos and a few maps.
