ORGANIZATION) OF THE DAF

The NS-HAGO or Nationalsozialistische Handwerks-, Handels-, und Gewerbeorganisation (National Socialist Handwork, Trade and Marketing Organization) of the DAF (Deutsche Arbeitsfront or German Labor Front) was the organization in Third Reich Germany responsible for all matters related to commerce. They organized people from farmers to artists, and dictated policy regarding the production and advertising of all sorts of items that entered into wholesale and retail trade.

The monthly magazine of that organization was Der Aufbau (The Building Up). Each issue measures approximately 8-1/4 x 11-1/2 inches and contains about 24 pages. Original examples are rare and the information contained in them is of enormous interest and importance to anyone seeking an understanding of the commercial side of things in Hitler’s Germany.

We have acquired a nice run of Der Aufbau magazines and offer them here in lots of three different magazines. Examine the lots carefully as one of the magazines in Lot 3 might also be offered in Lot 7. This is a wonderful opportunity for Nazi ephemera collectors to acquire a fine selection of Der Aufbau.

LOT 8: consists of Der Aufbau magazines for 15 December 1933, 28 August 1934 and 15 November 1934.

Subjects include German Christmas, Dr. Ley, NS-HAGO in the border areas, service with picks and shovels, the life of girls in the work service camps, the Braune exhibitions, sabotage of the workplace, the Day of Handworkers in Braunschweig, etc. Good used condition.

LOT 2b: (left) consists of Der Aufbau magazines for 15 September 1933, 15 November 1933 and 15 February 1935.

Subjects include a 2-page center-spread on the manufacture of swords in Solingen, the increase in the number of radios in Germany, shop window decorating, the 15 year battle against Jews and Marxists, the art of the butcher, the 10th anniversary of the Putsch in Munich, Winterhilfswerk (WHW), Dr. Ley, the Hitler Youth, the Reichs Professional Competition, Julius Streicher, Adolf Hitler at home on the Obersalzberg, etc.
