Because of huge advances in the aviation industry in Germany under the National Socialists a decision was made in the spring of 1938 to publish an annual guidebook that would showcase the amazing advances in German aviation, aircraft, aircraft engines, sailplanes and aircraft components. The result of that decision was this superb oversize heavily illustrated hard cover book.
The 10-1/2 x 14 inch, 178+ page very heavily illustrated guidebook of the firms that were members of the Reichsverband der deutschen Luftfahrtindustrie (National Association of the German Aviation Industry) was published by Erich Zander in Berlin.
The book contains watercolors by H. Klumbies, pastels by F. Wiemer and charcoal drawings by H. Kaufmann. While those are beautiful, the real beauty of this book 70+ years later is the photographic content and copious text which leaves no doubt whatsoever about the success of aviation in Nazi Germany.
There are component, manufacturing and finished product photographs of companies like Ago, Arado, Messerschmitt, Blohm & Voß, Bücker, Dornier, Erla, Fieseler, Focke-Wulf, Focke-Achgelis, Gothaer, Ernst Heinkel, Siebel, Klemm, Henschel, IG Farbenindustrie, Junkers, Telefunken, Siemens, Daimler-Benz, BMW, Bramo, Hirth, Schwarzwald, Schweyer, Schempp-Hirth, Schneider, Autoflug, Bosch, Askania, DBU, Drägerwerk, Deuta-Werke, Eberspächer, Elektron, Eckardt, Heine, C.
